I decided to re paint this picture that came back. The Bottom half had a red field and was of Pals in Spain. I turned it into a seascape so it`s a Costa Newlyn . I just thought that there are some very exciting passages in the painting that with a bit of brute force could be moulded into something completely different and `wow` really like this.

I started this little picture a while back and thought `I like that` lets leave it to dry and come back to it. Well I came back to it today to finish it off. I`ll be taking this to Blackheath Gallery in London for there Christmas Exhibition.

Worked some more on the blocky painting of Newlyn and made a start of this small dark picture. The blocky painting will take a while.Ican`t find a point yet where I can say yes!! Although the white bits in the middle are interesting.I usually work ouit from the bits that work constantly checking in the mirror as I go along so it all works. It takes time adjusting to working and getting the eye back in. All sounds very technical.

Spent today on my course learning about Dreamweaver CS4 so I can re build my web site. I`m going to be painting tomorrow and have to go up to London to pick up the remainder of the paintings from my show at the weekend. We havn`t sold many and I am probably going to just break even unless we sell more before I get there. Being in a Recession doesn`t help to sell paintings and the market is static. How is it going to be possible to carry on like this I don`t know. Yet!

Lucy has wished me a good week creating new work. Thanks Lucy This is evidence that I am working .I expect to change this; maybe even totally as I progress .I`ve got this far and as I look in the mirror behind me to check the painting.(that's how I work, with a mirror behind me to see what I am doing )... (try it) As yet there isn`t an area that is unique and has magic so I have to keep re working till the magic happens and then build from there.

This picture of Gruisan has come back from the Gallery. I must have painted this subject 30 or 40 times all different. I started painting `Gruisan` paintings 10yrs ago . To get to this view I had to climb to the top of a small hill above the Church and take lots of Photo`s to be worked on back in my Studio. Gruisan is in Southern France. So... I`ll probably keep this picture as a Family painting as it`s not going out again.

Made a start again today with a very thick Flower Painting. Its a little light in places so will hang it on the wall and ponder while I get on with another flower painting. Into flowers at the moment encouraged by my sale of a flower painting at the Curzon Gallery.

A part of being a self employed Artist is to have and maintain a website. My web is totally done by me but the software is old Frontpage 2000 so... I have enrolled on a course to help me understand Dreamweaver which is the latest up to date software for web making. At the end I hope to have a new website with an entirely new feel. It was a challenge to be in a school type environment with 9 other individuals on this web building course as I usually work alone but I really enjoyed it. It`s a ten week course .

The blog has been a bit dry recently because I have been recovering from my show and taking a break to see were to go next. Its clear that my studio work is what stands out from the crowd but I was down on the beach briefly today and it was mild enough to set up an easel and paint. Why shoudn`t I do both. Still chewing it over! What to do next. Emmmm!Am I ready to start again. Do I need more time... Emmmm Maybe I should just go in to the studio and start. Emmmm

I`m sorry I havn`t posted anything for 2 days but I`ve been recovering from all the driving I did in London. Art Cards Cornwall called me about Licencing some images. This is one of them. Can you believe it two of the ones they chose I had destroyed because I didn`t like them. Thank God I took a photo.

Had a really good show and took healthy first Day sales. The Gallery in the village of Wimbledon looked very modern and up to date and there was a good turn out. Alot of my buyers and collectors were thereand it was really good to see them again. The feedback I have is to stay with the strong colours typical of my work and although the plein air work is interesting it is a departure from typical `alan Furneaux`.I sold my two favoutite pictures in the show one of Newlyn and one Flower Painting.

Planning my trip to London .Getting last pictures framed up and ready . Stubbed my toe in the rush and I`m in a plaster so I hope it doesn`t hurt in the swimming pool. Hers a last picture. I`ve added a little church at the top to balance the top with the bottom ( not in this pic) and it really is a cracker. I hope you like it.To view all my pictures go to www.alanfurneaux.com and click on paintings

If anyone has been on my site www.alanfurneaux.com you`ll see I have been hacked into by the Algerians. Apparently 100 or more other sites on the same server had the same attack . It won`t effect you computer so don`t worry and I hope to have it back in safe hands soon.

When I paint like this there is every reason to celebrate. ..I was in Granada just before I got ill 3 yrs ago . We were there for a week having driven up from Alicante. We checked in to a Hotel in the town and Lorraine and Sam went skiing for a couple of days in the Sierra Nevada and my daughter Alana and I spent two days doing watercolours around the Alhambra. It was great people would come up and watch us and we would buy lots of ice creams and eat Sardinas and pizza in the little Restaurants.Any way here is a painting taken memory of that occasion. This may be the last painting I do before my trip to London next Thursday for my show.

Finished off this Flower painting for the London show. I`m going up next week. The previous version was a bit mucky so I`ve cleaned up the whites and added a deeper red to the vase . With the little hearts painted in in real life looks luuuuuuuvely. On second thoughts I`m gonna have to take the hearts out . It just doesn`t make sense. Maybe little beads of colour as though they are a screen.Emm!
